DR. FESTUS OKUBOR CHARGES CORPORATE ORGANISATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS TO SUPPORT GOVERNMENT IN THE PROVISION OF INFRASTRUCTURE IN SCHOOLS.
Corporate organisations and individuals especially Alumni Associations in the country have been urged to support government in the provision of infrastructure in Universities.
The Chief of Staff, Delta State Government House and Protocol Dr. Festus Okubor gave this advice at the weekend in Asaba when he hosted a Dinner in honour of members of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Alumni Association who were in Asaba for their national convention.
Dr. Okubor said that “the provision of conducive learning environment in our schools cannot be left to government alone, It required the contribution and cooperation of corporate organisations and individuals”, explaining that lack of infrastructure in our learning institutions have become a challenge for government at all levels.
His words “As the nation strives to improve learning infrastructure in universities across the country, I believe that corporate organisations and institutions like Alumni associations can cooperate with government in providing infrastructure and improved learning environment”.
Dr. Okubor commended the Executive Council of the Alumni Association for their assistance to the university and promised his continuous support to its activities.
In a brief remark, the President of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Alumni Association Dr. Nwanne Chioke who conferred Dr. Okubor with “Distinguished Alumnus” award commended Dr. Okubor for his support in the provision of infrastructure in the university, stating that the award was in recognition of his role and assistance in ensuring the successful hosting of the national convention.
Messrs. Andrew Oru and Emeka Nwanevu were elected as the new National President and National Secretary of the Alumni Association in a keenly contested election.
