Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has charged the Igbos outside Igbo land to live peacefully with people of their host communities.
The governor gave the charge in his goodwill message during the Igbo Day Celebration at the Warri Township Stadium.
Governor Uduaghan goodwill message was delivered by his Special Assistant on Non-Indigenes Affairs Chief (Dr.) Athan Iwuchukwu (JP) who also noted that governor Uduaghan has done so much for non-indigenes in Delta State and as such deserves the continuous support and prayers of non-indigenes in the state.
In his welcome address the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Delta Central and South Senatorial District.
He expressed the desire of Igbos to work and live in peace with people of their host communities. He made it clear that Igbos are not permitted to install themselves as kings or bear the title of a king or confer chieftaincy titles on others or own a palace in the area according to the constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Nation-wide.
He also commended the immediate past commissioner of Police in Delta State Ikechukwu Ayo Aduba PSC for his ability to reduce crime and returning peace to Deltans and other residents in the State during his tenure.
The occasion featured cultural match pass by the various Ibo speaking states in Nigeria as well as award of excellence to some distinguished personalities of Igbo origin in Warri by an Abuja based media outfit Niger Delta Voice, headed by its director Amadi Chinazum who explained that the gesture was to appreciate the illustrious sons of Igbo in the area. The awardees include: Engr. C.W. Wamuo and Nze Francis Onuora Chairman Ndigbo Traders and member Peace & Security Warri South Local Government Area.
In a brief chat with newsmen shortly after he was conferred with the award of excellence Nze Francis Onuora expressed appreciation to the media outfit saying that the award will spur him to do more for humanity.
