UPHOLD INTEGRITY PROF UTUAMA CHARGES NEW SAN
Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof Amos Utuama SAN, has called on the newly sworn-in Senior Advocates of Nigeria to uphold the integrity and discipline of bar so as to have a better judiciary system in the country.
Prof Utuama made the call while speaking at the swearing-in of 17 SAN at the Supreme Court in Abuja.
The event which was held at the main auditorium of the Supreme Court Complex was witnessed by Supreme Court Justices, members of the Bar of Benches as well as other jurists.
The deputy governor did not hesitate to lend his voice to proffer word of advice to the newly sworn- in SAN, describing the position of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria as a mark of excellence that should be revered at all times and urged prospective lawyers to be focused in their studies.
The Chief Judge of the Federation, Justice Alona Mukhta said the beginning of a new legal year is always characterized by the swearing-in of SAN as she used the medium to remind lawyers that the profession plays an important role during elections and asked them to play by the rules guiding the profession as they engage in cases that may come up as a result of election.
The Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke SAN, said that a timid and fearful judiciary comprising of judges who are on the edge for fear of being victimized cannot adequately dispense justice in a manner desired by the country.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN is a title conferred on lawyers of not less than 10 years who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession
