OVIE OF UGHELLI AT 63, DOLES OUT
CHIEFTAINCY TITLES
The Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, His Royal
Majesty (HRM) Dr. Wilson Oharisi III JP yesterday honored some illustrious sons
of Ughelli Kingdom with Chieftaincy title as he celebrates 63rd birthday.
Speaking during the thanksgiving
service held at the palace Chapel, HRM Dr. Wilson Oharisi III JP encouraged all
sons and daughters of Ughelli Kingdom to put God first in their daily
activities and be committed to His service, adding that such act would bring
God’s protection upon them.
“It is good to serve God; since I begin
to serve God, He has made me look younger and stronger even at 63” he
emphasized.
The Royal father stated that his 25th Coronation
Ceremony would be soon, stressing that it was necessary to honor some sons of
the kingdom who have labored selflessly one way or the other for the progress
of Ughelli Kingdom.
“I want to use this opportunity to
reward you for your service to humanity and for the promotion of peace in
Ughelli Kingdom” he said.
In a brief interview, after receiving
the Chieftaincy title of the “Udidi re Ovie” of Ughelli Kingdom, the President
General of the Afiesere Community, Chief Okiemute Chikaleke expressed joy that
he was counted worthy to be honored by the King, adding that the honor will
encourage him to do more for Ughelli Kingdom.
“I am very happy today and this
recognition of my hard work will encourage me to do more for my people” he
said.
Chief Chikaleke, who stated that he had
used his position as President General of Afiesere Community to empower youths
of the community, advised sons and daughters of Ughelli Kingdom to embrace
peace, and contribute their quota to the development of Ughelli Kingdom.
“No Community can develop when there is
no peace, where there is rancor. Peace brings progress and development” he
said.
The President General commended the
Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the reconstruction of
Afiesere road which is ongoing and he appointment of one their own, Chief David
Edevbie as commissioner for finance in the State.
Chief Chikaleke promised to
mobilize his people to always support the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi
Okowa administration and ensure that peace exists in Afiesere Community all the
times.
