Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Engr. Jude Sinebe, has confirmed that the ongoing screening exercise in tertiary institutions across the state was not to witch-hunt anyone but to clear the system of rot.
He said this on Tuesday 19th April, 2016 during a post exco briefing in Government House, Asaba.
The ministry in a circular had informed those affected to prepare to leave the service following the mandatory retirement age of 60 years or having spent 35years in the civil service.
Engr. Sinebe said that ‘’the immediate past president did sign into law time within which one is expected to leave the service but it was not domesticated in our state’’.
He further stressed that the action that would have led to the ‘’adoption and implementation in our state was inconclusive’’.
The state government decided to embark on the exercise following the huge salary burden on the state and its determination to get rid of ghost workers from the civil service.
